Remember, the timeline’s playhead position and direction are unaffected by child tween/timeline changes. Therefore the playhead of the timeline would now be at the tween’s 25% completion point instead of 75%. If smoothChildTiming is false (the default except for the root timelines), the tween would flip in place, keeping its startTime consistent. For example, imagine that the timeline’s playhead is on a child tween that is 75% complete, moving element’s left from 0 to 100 and then that tween’s reverse() method is called. SmoothChildTiming : Boolean - Controls whether or not child tweens/timelines are repositioned automatically (changing their startTime) in order to maintain smooth playback when properties are changed on-the-fly. For example, if repeat is 2 and repeatDelay is 1, the animation will play initially, then wait for 1 second before it repeats, then play again, then wait 1 second again before doing its final repeat. RepeatDelay : Number - Amount of time in seconds between repeats. For example, if repeat is 1, the animation will play a total of twice (the initial play plus 1 repeat). Repeat : Number - Number of times that the animation should repeat after its first iteration. Paused : Boolean - If true, the animation will pause itself immediately upon creation. Without a timeline, building complex sequences would be far more cumbersome because you’d need to use the delay special property for every tween. The syntax is similar as TimelineMax in the 2.X version but with some improvements. It is most similar to TimelineMax if you’re familiar with the GSAP 2.X syntax. It is the ultimate sequencing tool that acts like a container for tweens and other timelines, making it simple to control them as a whole and precisely manage their timing. Gsap.timeline is essentially a chain of tween (.

The Village Voice critic Robert Christgau said that, although its "concatenation of musical-instrument imitations and collapsing new sound effects" begets occasional interest and groove, only "Close (To the Edit)" sustains its performance. He found its "blend of experimental rock and New Wave" both "brash" and innovative, and said that the album is "at times irksome but always groundbreaking." In his five-star review of the album, AllMusic's Ned Raggett called it an "entertaining and often frightening and screwed-up package", and said that "rarely has something aiming for modern pop status also sought to destroy and disturb so effectively." Ian Wade of The Quietus viewed it as an influential "brilliant racket of" what contemporary listeners of the album believe would be the sound of the future, and called its music "thrillingly inventive, reasonably danceable and full of interesting bits to laugh, love and dance to." Lets take a look at the following example. This guide will bring you up to speed with all the latest features added in ECMAScript 13. The splice() method changes the original array and returns an array that contains the deleted elements. This ensures that the object with the specified ID is not included in the new array returned from filter().ġ1 Amazing New JavaScript Features in ES13 I saw the answer with the while loop but the solution that I made is : var index jQuery.inArray (element, arr) arr.splice (index,1) If you look at your original array and the first result array, you'll notice that non-0 elements ARE being removed. In our example, we set a test that an object in the array will pass only if its id property is not equal to the specified ID. Example const arr = Ĭonst filtered = arr.filter((num) => num > 2) The Array filter() method creates a new array filled with elements that pass a test specified by a callback function. So, if you have an array named arr, in order to remove an element at index 4, the way to use the splice method would be: arr.splice(4, 1). Then call the splice(index, 1) method on the array to remove the object from the array. To remove an element at any index, you need to give splice two arguments: the first argument is the index of the element to remove, the second argument is the number of elements to remove. The definition of '' in that specification. To remove an element from an array by ID in JavaScript, use the findIndex() method to find the index of the object with the ID in the array. myFish is // removed is Specifications Specification Removed = myFish.splice(myFish.length -3, 2) The main difference is that when you delete an array element using the delete operator, the length of the array is not affected, even if you delete the last element of the array. If indexOf returns (-1), thats to say the element wasnt found, splice will remove the last element of the array (negative indexing works). You can use either the splice() method or the delete operator. myFish is // removed is // myFish is // removes 2 elements from index 2 The splice() method takes 2 parameters: the index position to start at, and the number of elements to remove. WARNING: One small detail, be careful when you use splice with indexOf. Removed = myFish.splice( 0, 2, ' parrot', ' anemone', ' blue') myFish is // removed is // myFish is // removes 2 elements from index 0, and inserts 'parrot', 'anemone' and 'blue' Removed = myFish.splice( 2, 1, ' trumpet') myFish is // removed is // myFish is // removes 1 element from index 2, and inserts 'trumpet' myFish is // removed is, no elements removed // myFish is // removes 1 element from index 3 removes 0 elements from index 2, and inserts 'drum' var removed = myFish.splice( 2, 0, ' drum') The following script illustrates the use of splice():Ĭopy Code var myFish = Unlike the slice () method, the splice () method will change the contents of the original array. It is important to note that the slice () method does not alter the original array but instead creates a shallow copy. While the specified array in the splice method contains the remaining elements after removing the. It can be used to add new elements to an array. The array splice returns a new array of removed elements. If you specify a different number of elements to insert than the number you're removing, the array will have a different length at the end of the call. The slice () method can be used to create a copy of an array or return a portion of an array. The JavaScript Array splice() method in javascript is used to add or remove elements from an array splice. If no elements are removed, an empty array is returned. If only one element is removed, an array of one element is returned. Return valueĪn array containing the deleted elements. If you don't specify any elements, splice() will only remove elements from the array. The elements to add to the array, beginning at the start index. If deleteCount is omitted, deleteCount will be equal to ( arr.length - start). If deleteCount is greater than the number of elements left in the array starting at start, then all of the elements through the end of the array will be deleted. In this case, you should specify at least one new element. If deleteCount is 0, no elements are removed. deleteCount An integer indicating the number of old array elements to remove. If negative, will begin that many elements from the end. If greater than the length of the array, actual starting index will be set to the length of the array. Parameters start Index at which to start changing the array (with origin 0). Many new subdivisions were developed to cater to those who preferred a more suburban lifestyle but were open to remaining within the city limits of New Orleans. After 1965, the corps built a levee system around a much larger geographic footprint that included previous marshland and swamp. The local municipalities were charged with maintenance once the projects were completed. That year, Congress passed the Flood Control Act of 1965 which, among other issues, gave authority for design and construction of the flood protection in the New Orleans metropolitan area to the United States Army Corps of Engineers, subject to cost sharing principles, some of which were waived by later legislation. In 1965, heavy flooding caused by Hurricane Betsy brought concerns regarding flooding from hurricanes to the forefront. After the construction of the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal in 1940, the state closed these waterways causing the town's water table to lower drastically. Navigable commercial waterways extended from the lake into the interior of the city to promote waterborne commerce. Later developments that eventually extended to nearby Lake Pontchartrain were built on fill to bring them above the average lake level. New Orleans was settled on a natural high ground along the Mississippi River. Background Flooding in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans after Hurricane Betsy in 1965. Katrina has also stimulated significant research in the academic community into urban planning, real estate finance, and economic issues in the wake of a natural disaster. It has prompted a Congressional review of the Army Corps of Engineers and the failure of portions of the federally built flood protection system which experts agree should have protected the city's inhabitants from Katrina's surge. The disaster had major implications for a large segment of the population, economy, and politics of the entire United States. Television shots frequently focused on the Superdome as a symbol of the flooding occurring in New Orleans. The Louisiana Superdome was used to house and support some of those who were unable to evacuate. Despite this, many remained in the city, mainly those who did not have access to personal vehicles or who were isolated from the dissemination of news from the local governments. The flood disaster halted oil production and refining which increased oil prices worldwide.īetween 80 and 90 percent of the residents of New Orleans were evacuated before the hurricane struck, testifying to some of the success of the evacuation measures. These breaches caused the majority of the flooding, according to a June 2007 report by the American Society of Civil Engineers. The major breaches included the 17th Street Canal levee, the Industrial Canal levee, and the London Avenue Canal flood wall. The famous French Quarter and Garden District escaped flooding because those areas are above sea level. By August 31, 2005, 80% of New Orleans was flooded, with some parts under 15 feet (4.6 m) of water. The failures of levees and flood walls during Katrina are considered by experts to be the worst engineering disaster in the history of the United States. As mandated in the Flood Control Act of 1965, responsibility for the design and construction of the city's levees belongs to the United States Army Corps of Engineers and responsibility for their maintenance belongs to the Orleans Levee Board. The storm surge caused approximately 23 breaches in the drainage canal and navigational canal levees and flood walls. The city of Monterey had grown up near the mission and presidio to become the capital of the Spanish (later Mexican) province of Alta California. By that time little remained of the original Spanish presidio, which had been established in 1770 to protect the Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo. In 1946 the school moved to the Presidio of Monterey. More than 6,000 graduates served throughout the Pacific Theater during the war and the subsequent occupation of Japan. In addition, the department leaders and staff were tasked with examining how to change existing work routines to create more happiness at work, like starting their meetings with three positives or adopting a praise and recognition program. You can even find orange hair nets and orange oxygen carts in some departments. Employees receive a Spark Award for spreading happiness through a kind act. When moms have new babies, the staff give the big brothers and sisters plush orange frogs called baby Sparks as a symbol of the kind character of the department. The staff from the organizational behavior department bought caterpillars for every department in the entire hospital and together released the Monarch butterflies after they hatched as a symbol of change. For example, in some departments, when people returned from vacation, their colleagues cover their offices with words of appreciation on orange post-it notes. The color “orange” was adopted to symbolize positive changes. Each department designed positive changes tailored to their subculture spanning from gratitude exercises, increased praise and recognition from managers, and team-based conscious acts of kindness. We worked with the medical center to roll out a series of positive psychology interventions department by department so we could test the effectiveness compared to groups that had not been exposed to the interventions. Still, he felt it was important to focus on the company’s culture and hypothesized that positivity could help the center at this crucial time. In addition, they were asking staff to reduce their hours and take time off with or without PTO. He wanted to infuse more positivity into the culture at the medical center, but they were about to undergo two rounds of massive cost reductions and layoffs. Consequently, few leaders at Genesis were talking about happiness at work and Jordan Voigt, president of the largest medical center (Genesis Medical Center-Davenport), was facing a conundrum. This was true for many hospitals, which were experiencing the lowest profitability since the 2008 financial crisis. Three years ago, Genesis Health System, which is comprised of five hospitals and a regional health center, was not profitable.
